Smith Brothers Farms and Blue Dog Bakery Celebrate National Dog Month with Weekly Giveaways

Smith Brothers Farms, a Pacific Northwest home delivery company, is celebrating National Dog Month throughout August by teaming up with Blue Dog Bakery to give away weekly prize packs. Each week, one lucky winner will receive a Blue Dog Bakery Prize Pack and a $50 Smith Brothers grocery delivery credit, allowing them to stock up on fresh local favorites delivered right to their doorstep.

The initiative honors the long-standing tradition of Milkmen and Milkwomen carrying complimentary dog treats on their trucks to reward the pups who greet them at the door. "Leaving treats for our four-legged friends is a tradition we're proud to carry on all year long," said Peter Olson, Senior Marketing Manager. As temperatures rise, Smith Brothers also emphasizes the importance of keeping pets safe during the summer months. The Humane Society offers several reminders: never leave pets in a parked car, as temperatures can become dangerously hot even with cracked windows; protect sensitive paws by testing pavement with the back of your hand and walking during cooler times; keep fresh water nearby and bring water on walks; create cool spaces with shade and possibly a kiddie pool; watch for signs of overheating such as heavy panting, excessive drooling, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid heartbeat, or difficulty walking; and take it easy outdoors, especially during wildfire season, by shortening walks and vigorous play during the hottest parts of the day.
