Romano brings more than two decades of experience in public-company finance, capital markets, and medical technology, having raised over $100 million during her career. She previously served as CFO at Vicarious Surgical, another developer of robotic surgical technologies, where she oversaw initiatives to reduce cash burn and strengthen the balance sheet. Her appointment comes at a pivotal time for SS Innovations, which is pursuing broader commercialization of its robotic system while advancing regulatory initiatives.

The company recently graduated the inaugural class of its SS International Centre for Robotics Surgery (SSICRS) cardiac robotic surgery training program, welcoming 33 healthcare professionals from seven countries. This underscores SS Innovations' emphasis on surgeon education alongside technology deployment, a critical factor for adoption of complex surgical robots.

SS Innovations continues to expand internationally, with its SSi Mantra system already in use in several countries. The company is preparing for FDA review, a key milestone that could open the U.S. market, the world's largest for surgical robotics.
