Steal the Line Launches Daily Public Headline That Locks Each Day at Midnight

Steal the Line, a one-page website at stealtheline.com, has opened a daily public edition in which a single sentence occupies the page, that sentence can be replaced for five dollars more than the current price, and is permanently printed when the clock hits midnight. The site is not a product leaderboard and does not sell a lasting rank. It sells a day.

The live sentence can change all afternoon. At midnight that sentence is frozen on The Wall as that date's printed line and cannot be edited. At 12:00:01 a.m. a new edition opens again at $5. The first steal of each day costs $5. After that, a new sentence must beat the current price by at least $5. Payments are in whole U.S. dollars. Sentences are limited to 140 characters and may not include links. There are no user accounts.

Dates on The Wall can be claimed only once. A printed Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or the night of a rivalry game stays on the public calendar. There is no reprint. Afternoon buyers get a temporary billboard. The person who holds the line when the countdown dies at Midnight gets the history book. A printed edition might read: "December 31 — She said yes." Another might read: "October 10 — Tonight the town is ours." If a day ends with no paid sentence, the date is marked Unclaimed.

Steal the Line was built as an alternative to pay-to-rank boards that keep a permanent price climbing until only the highest bidder remains. There is no 2nd place. This page is cheap again every morning on purpose. The archive is a calendar of sentences that survived the night, not a list of companies.
