TCK Launches Fourth Annual Virtual Auction to Address Growing Food Insecurity

The Truro Community Kitchen (TCK) has launched its fourth annual virtual fundraising auction, running from November 22 to December 2, to combat growing food insecurity in the community. This online event features diverse items including Broadway tickets, travel packages, and artwork from local Truro artisans, with all proceeds directly supporting TCK's mission of providing free, nutritious meals and strengthening community connections. Wendy Lurie, TCK Co-Founder and Board President, emphasized the critical timing of this initiative, stating that rising food costs, a tight job market, and reductions in federal food aid have created unprecedented need among families and seniors.

The auction operates through Bidding For Good, where community members can browse and place bids on available items. Proceeds fund TCK's expanding meal programs, which now include a free monthly dinner open to residents of Truro, Provincetown, and Wellfleet, hosted at Truro Central School. This program expansion addresses both nutritional needs and social isolation, as TCK often receives handwritten notes from meal recipients expressing gratitude for meals prepared with care and the meaningful contact with volunteer drivers that serves as a lifeline for many.
