Bastei Lübbe AG appoints Tina Jurgens as its new Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, effective November 1, 2026, signaling a strategic push to integrate digital expertise into its traditional publishing operations.

The Supervisory Board of Bastei Lübbe AG, a leading independent publishing group in Germany listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange's Prime Standard, has named Tina Jurgens as its new Chief Marketing and Sales Officer. Jurgens will join the Executive Board on November 1, 2026, bringing a wealth of experience in digital media and content marketing to the company.
Jurgens comes to Bastei Lübbe from ZEBRALUTION Group, a prominent digital distributor for book and audiobook publishers in Germany. Since 2024, she served as Co-CEO, overseeing the operational side of digital publishing and podcast divisions, as well as technology, finance, and human resources. Her tenure at ZEBRALUTION began in 2018 as Managing Director, where she launched the new business division zebra-audio.net, which later became ZEBRALUTION Podcast. In 2022, she was appointed Chief Operating Officer, further cementing her role in driving digital growth.
Before her time at ZEBRALUTION, Jurgens held key positions at several leading German media companies. After earning a degree in journalism and communication studies, she started her career in 2004 as a product manager at Süddeutsche Zeitung. She subsequently took on senior roles at Axel Springer, Bayerischer Rundfunk, and BRmedia, where she specialized in marketing and licensing audio content and developing digital business models.
Carsten Dentler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bastei Lübbe AG, commented, “In Tina Jurgens, we are gaining a proven media expert who combines long-standing experience in content marketing with extensive digital expertise and an entrepreneurial drive to shape the future. She is equally familiar with the traditional book and media business and with digital business models, and is therefore ideally equipped to strategically drive forward the marketing of our content and brands. We are convinced that, together with her colleagues on the Executive Board, she will be able to provide important impetus and unlock new potential for Bastei Lübbe.”
Jurgens succeeds Sandra Dittert, who left the publishing house by mutual agreement at the end of her term in July 2026, after six successful years. Dentler added, “The Supervisory Board would like to express its sincere thanks to Sandra Dittert for her dedication and the consistently trusting working relationship. She has played a decisive role in shaping the publishing group’s positive development and has thus made a significant contribution to its profitable growth and portfolio expansion. We wish her all the best for the future.”
This appointment comes at a critical time for the publishing industry, which is increasingly pivoting to digital formats. Bastei Lübbe, which owns more than 14 imprints and produces thousands of audio and eBooks, generates annual revenues exceeding €118 million (2025/2026 financial year). Jurgens’ track record in building digital businesses and her deep understanding of audio content will be instrumental as the company looks to strengthen its digital presence and explore new revenue streams.
Her experience at ZEBRALUTION, particularly in developing the podcast division and overseeing digital publishing operations, aligns with Bastei Lübbe's strategy to innovate and lead in digital media. The company has already established several community-driven business models and sees itself as an industry pioneer. With Jurgens on board, the publishing house is poised to leverage her expertise to enhance its marketing and sales strategies, ensuring it remains competitive in an evolving market.
As the media landscape continues to shift, having a leader with Jurgens' dual focus on traditional and digital realms will be crucial. Her appointment signals Bastei Lübbe's commitment to maintaining its position as a forward-thinking publisher, ready to adapt to changing consumer habits and technological advancements. The entire industry will be watching to see how she translates her digital-first approach into tangible growth for one of Germany's most established publishing houses.
