Trollinger Law Opens Nominations for Hometown Heroes Award to Honor First Responders

The award is designed to honor first responders in Charles County and throughout Southern Maryland for their dedication and service to the community. Nominations opened today and will close, with winners being announced on Oct. 5, 2026.

The contest is open to all local first responders in the area, including but not limited to paramedics, police officers, firefighters, emergency response teams, public safety providers, emergency hospital facilities and workers, military service members, and other emergency workers. Each winner will receive a $500 cash prize and four complimentary tickets to a luxury suite at the D.C. United game on October 24, where they can celebrate with other honorees and Trollinger Law staff. Additionally, the honorees will be recognized on the field at halftime.

This year's award continues a tradition of recognizing individuals who often serve behind the scenes. Previous honorees have included current and retired members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office, the Marine Corps, the Charles County Department of Emergency Medical Services, local police and fire departments, and volunteer rescue squads.
