Trump's Corruption Drives Moral Decline, Author Elizabeth Graham Argues

Bestselling author Elizabeth Graham, an authority on the Trump-Putin relationship, argues that Donald Trump's political dishonesty—including bribery, graft, and malfeasance—has driven the United States into a state of moral decline. In her view, Americans desire truth, justice, and law, but Trump's actions have eroded these values.

In a recent Substack post titled "Corruption," Graham wrote that successful anti-authoritarian movements strongly attack corruption, framing the regime as dishonest and morally rotten while reclaiming patriotic symbols. She noted that over the past decade, with Trump as a central figure, values such as veracity, verity, and factuality have nearly disappeared. Graham emphasized that laws should promote justice, but Trump believes he is above the law.

Graham highlighted the Epstein Files Transparency Act, enacted in November 2025, which required the Department of Justice to release records related to Jeffrey Epstein by December 19, 2025. She claimed Trump has evaded full disclosure through distractions, referencing a CBS News report about the Justice Department's Office of Inspector General monitoring delays.

Drawing a historical parallel, Graham pointed to the Declaration of Independence's assertion that "all men are created equal," noting that Thomas Jefferson owned over 600 slaves. She argued that this foundational lie has set a standard of dishonesty for generations, and that American leaders and society have never been more disoriented than under Trump.

Graham characterized Trump as a bigot, citing his closure of USAID to stop aid to Africa, which she said could lead to an estimated 15 million deaths by 2040 according to The Lancet. She also criticized his treatment of immigrants as inhumane, ignoring the hardships endured by those seeking refuge.

On foreign policy, Graham noted that Trump's public plea to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop attacks on Lebanon failed, as reported by MSN. She contrasted this with Trump's repeated claims that he could end the war in Ukraine in one day, a statement he made 53 times according to a CNN fact check.

Graham concluded that Trump's corruption is ingrained and evident in his actions, citing a report from the American Bar Association describing an unprecedented pay-to-play culture. She warned that without accountability, such corruption will destroy Americans' faith in democracy, exactly as Vladimir Putin desires.
