UGI Natural Gas Rates to Remain Stable in June, Modest Increase Expected in December

UGI Utilities, Inc. announced it will maintain current natural gas supply rates for June 2025, with a modest rate increase projected for December 2025. The anticipated price adjustment, which requires Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) approval, represents a minimal impact on residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

Under the proposed rates, a typical residential heating customer using 73.7 hundred cubic feet (ccf) of natural gas per month would see a monthly bill increase from $112.23 to $113.45, representing a 1.1% rise. Commercial customers using 28.3 thousand cubic feet (Mcf) can expect a 1.4% increase from $333.24 to $337.83, while industrial customers utilizing 75.4 thousand cubic feet (Mcf) would experience a 1.5% increase from $840.06 to $852.29.

The rate adjustments are part of UGI's annual filing process with the PUC, which requires utilities to transparently pass through wholesale natural gas costs without generating additional profit. By law, utilities like UGI must submit gas cost rates for annual review and can make quarterly adjustments to reflect market price fluctuations.

The projected increase highlights the ongoing volatility in energy markets and the potential impact on consumer expenses. While the percentage increase remains relatively small, it underscores the importance of energy efficiency and proactive financial planning for households and businesses.

UGI recognizes potential financial challenges for customers and offers multiple support mechanisms, including budget billing, diverse payment options, and access to energy assistance programs for individuals with limited or fixed incomes.
