UGI Utilities Launches Major Infrastructure Upgrade Project in Allentown

UGI Utilities has announced a comprehensive infrastructure improvement initiative targeting critical natural gas infrastructure in Allentown, with two separate system upgrade projects scheduled to begin in early May 2025. These strategic upgrades aim to enhance service reliability and safety while providing potential benefits for local property owners.

The first project, commencing May 2, will focus on gas main replacements along East Elm Street, South Bradford Street, and East Fairview Street. A second project starting May 5 will target Lehigh Street, Keck Street, and West Tioga Street. Both initiatives are expected to substantially improve the city's natural gas distribution network.

Residents and businesses along the project routes should anticipate significant transportation disruptions. Construction will occur Monday through Friday between 7 am and 5 pm, with potential road closures, detours, and traffic delays. Parking restrictions will also be in effect during construction hours.

The infrastructure improvements carry substantial implications for Allentown's urban infrastructure.
