Verite Capital Partners expands its leadership to drive global sustainability and job creation, appointing Sumit Majumdar to oversee initiatives targeting one million green jobs and a one percent reduction in worldwide carbon emissions.

Verite Capital Partners has appointed Sumit Majumdar as Vice Chairman, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Operating Partner, signaling an expanded institutional commitment to environmental sustainability, industrial job creation, and economic development for underserved populations. The announcement was made by Don Jones, Chairman and Managing Partner of the firm, who highlighted Majumdar's strategic value in advancing economically viable green initiatives.
Jones, who brings nearly 50 years of executive leadership experience from roles at Macy's, IKEA, GAP, and Target, founded Verite in 2009 with a focus on scaling capital access and corporate education for diverse entrepreneurs. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Felician University, where he received the 2024 Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award, and sits on the boards of Nuvance Health and Northwell Health.
Majumdar's appointment builds on a two-year mentorship under Jones, whom he describes as "the most ethical man I ever met." Following a 20-year tenure as President of Buffalo Biodiesel Inc., Majumdar sees his new role as an opportunity for greater global environmental impact. Verite's commitment to Buffalo Biodiesel will increase both domestically and internationally.
The firm's institutional foundation supports this global strategy, with $7 billion in current obligations and over $20 billion in committed investments. As Vice Chairman and Chief Sustainability Officer, Majumdar will oversee an international initiative to establish more than one million green jobs globally and reduce worldwide carbon emissions by one percent, with plans to scale operations systematically. "The metric-driven target is to build an infrastructure capable of mobilizing 100 million individuals to secure environmental viability for subsequent generations," Majumdar stated.
Majumdar brings expertise in industrial scaling, circular economy frameworks, and advanced material science. He grew Buffalo Biodiesel into a major multi-state enterprise serving over 30,000 locations and prevented significant greenhouse gas emissions through localized waste-to-energy systems. He is the architect of "Project Green Logic," a carbon-negative industrial hub and advanced materials research center, and has engineered international waste-to-energy frameworks across Ghana, Nigeria, and Mexico. He advocates for the GWP20 accounting standard to ensure rigorous climate impact accuracy.
Together, Jones and Majumdar aim to position Verite at the forefront of the global green transition, demonstrating that high-level corporate finance can be leveraged for environmental stability and equitable opportunity.
