Verizon announces elimination of activation and upgrade fees, introduces new loyalty program with cashback rewards and weekly sweepstakes, and launches streamlined 'Simplicity' and 'Verizon One' plans to reduce complexity and put customers first.

Verizon (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) today announced a sweeping overhaul of its consumer offerings, eliminating activation and upgrade fees, launching a new loyalty program called Verizon Loyalty, and introducing two simplified plans—Verizon Simplicity and Verizon One. The moves are part of a multi-year transformation aimed at reducing complexity and friction for customers.
“We’re fundamentally reshaping Verizon inside and out to put the customer at the center of everything we do. We’re listening, designing for them, and moving faster than we ever have before,” said Dan Schulman, Verizon CEO. “For too long, this industry has burdened people with complex plans, forced upgrades they don’t need, and so-called ‘rewards’ with tons of caveats. We are working to ensure everything that we do is simple, clear and delightful.”
In an industry first, all postpaid customers on any phone or connected device plan can opt into Verizon Loyalty and eliminate activation and upgrade fees—saving up to $40 per device. Customers can opt in through the My Verizon app. Additionally, the loyalty program introduces Verizon Dollars, which gives customers 3% back each month, redeemable for devices, accessories, or up to 5x value from brands like Sephora, Hilton, Marriott, and Starbucks. Another component, Verizon Shine, offers weekly sweepstakes for once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as tickets to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, a VIP experience at Outside Lands festival, and a New York City food tour with chef Andrew Zimmern. Daily drops include free coffee from Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts treats, and gift cards.
Verizon also launched Verizon Simplicity, a plan priced at $45 per line (with an introductory offer of $30 for switchers) that provides access to Verizon’s best 5G network, including 5G Ultra Wideband, with no tiered network restrictions. The plan includes unlimited data, 10GB of premium mobile hotspot, roaming in Canada and Mexico, and satellite texting. Customers can add home internet for $35 per month. “With Simplicity, we’re democratizing our network at a thoughtful price point that meets our customers’ needs and drives responsible growth,” said Alfonso Villanueva, Interim CEO of Verizon Consumer Group.
Verizon One, another new plan, combines mobility and home services for $70 per month with taxes and fees included, offering a single bill managed through the My Verizon app. The plan is designed for new customers seeking simplicity and affordability.
The company’s existing myPlan customers can continue their service and also take advantage of the new Verizon Loyalty program. Verizon expects these changes to be accretive to revenue and EBITDA growth and to reduce churn, while maintaining its 2026 financial guidance. For more information, visit verizon.com/loyalty.
