Verizon Enhances Digital Security with New Home Protection Service and App Updates

During Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Verizon is introducing significant security enhancements including the new Digital Secure Home service and a major refresh of the Verizon Protect app. Che Phillip, Senior Vice President of Consumer Device Marketing at Verizon, emphasized that securing customer connections sits at the heart of the company's promise, delivering protection directly to customers' hands.

The growing threat to home networks is underscored by findings from the 2025 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report available at https://www.verizon.com/business/resources/reports/dbir/, which revealed that exploitation of vulnerabilities as an initial access vector for breaches grew by 34% from last year. This makes digital security more critical than ever as the number of connected devices in modern homes continues to increase, making Wi-Fi networks primary targets for digital threats.

Digital Secure Home, managed through the Verizon Home app, protects devices connected to home networks from online threats and vulnerabilities. The entry tier provides Vulnerability Assessments and Malicious Website Protection at no additional cost with Fios Home Internet service. Digital Secure Home Plus, available for $5.99 per month, adds advanced services that defend against botnet and brute force attacks, detect abnormal device behavior, and safeguard sensitive data on router-connected devices from cyber hazards.

For mobile protection, the Verizon Protect app has undergone a major refresh to provide customers with more insight into their online safety. New features include a Security Rating that shows how secure personal data is with personalized insights to improve the rating, and Security Categories that measure performance across four key areas: Identity, Device, Network and Online. Additionally, Verizon is highlighting its Fall Open Enrollment for Verizon Mobile Protect, available through November 3. This protection offers coverage against loss, theft, damage including liquid damage, and post-warranty malfunctions for devices. Benefits include unlimited claims, unlimited cracked screen repairs at no additional cost, 24/7 premium tech support, and same-day device delivery and setup.
