Vinhomes Unveils 6,200-Hectare Ha Long Bay Urban Development, Redefining Scale with Value-Driven Design

Vinhomes has announced the master plan for Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long, a sprawling 6,200-hectare integrated urban development adjacent to the UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay. This project, the company's largest to date, signifies a paradigm shift in urban development metrics: instead of focusing solely on land area, Vinhomes emphasizes the value delivered per hectare to residents and the environment.

The development is positioned along the Hanoi–Hai Phong–Quang Ninh Expressway, at the nexus of northern Vietnam's tourism, industrial, and logistics corridors. It is planned as a fully integrated city, not merely a residential complex, incorporating housing, public services, commerce, and ecological infrastructure. This approach reflects a broader evolution in urban planning, as highlighted by the OECD, which stresses that future cities must connect people to jobs and services, bolster climate resilience, and integrate nature into urban fabric.

Connectivity is a cornerstone of the master plan. The city's location adjacent to the future depot station of the Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway will enable a commute to Hanoi in about 23 minutes, reshaping regional mobility. Residents will enjoy uninterrupted views of Ha Long Bay, clean air, and expansive waterfronts. Housing options range from villas and townhouses to high-rise apartments across six districts.

Sustainability is embedded at scale, with over 2,500 hectares dedicated to green spaces, water bodies, and mangroves, including 680 hectares of naturally filtered seawater and a 660-hectare forest park. These ecological assets are designed to support biodiversity and climate resilience, aligning with Vinhomes' ESG++ vision. The city is organized around interconnected ecosystems, featuring a 60,000-seat waterfront venue, a 3,000-seat theatre, an 81-hectare VinWonders destination with the planned world's largest aquarium, and an international convention center.

Hospitality and leisure offerings include luxury hotels, integrated casino facilities, a 950-hectare golf complex with 12 courses, and Wonder Marina. Commerce is anchored by Vincom Mega Mall and premium retail streets. Sports and wellness infrastructure includes a 13.3-hectare Sports District, a professional sports academy, and over 50 kilometers of cycling routes. Healthcare and education are served by Vinmec Cleveland Clinic International Hospital, senior living centers, Vinschool campuses, and youth development hubs.

Anchoring the economic future is a new central business district with office towers up to 45 stories, aiming to attract international businesses. The project aligns with ISO 37125 and incorporates smart technologies like AI and IoT for optimized city operations. Guided by connectivity, regeneration, and excellence, Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long aims to demonstrate how mobility, environmental stewardship, public services, commerce, and culture can coalesce in a single planning framework, setting a new benchmark for sustainable urban development.
