Volunteer Minister Event in Oklahoma City Highlights Disaster Preparedness and Community Service

The WUS Volunteer Minister Cavalcade hosted its Volunteer Minister Opening Event on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Plaza Calle Dos Cinco, drawing community members for a day focused on disaster preparedness, humanitarian service, and cultural celebration. The event, emceed by Volunteer Minister Adan Yanes, featured a seminar titled "Solutions for a Dangerous Environment," which provided attendees with practical information and resources for preparing for and responding to disasters.

A highlight of the event was a performance by Ballet Folklórico Xochipilli of Oklahoma City, which showcased Mexican cultural heritage through traditional costumes and choreography. The audience enthusiastically enjoyed the performance, adding a festive dimension to the proceedings.

Community participation was emphasized during the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, where attendees were invited to join the celebration. Following the ceremony, the seminar attracted several attendees interested in learning more about disaster preparedness and the Volunteer Ministers' humanitarian efforts.

Reflecting on the event, Yanes shared a moving moment: "One of the visitors shed tears knowing that the Volunteer Ministers help a lot to those affected by disasters. She didn't know there was an organization that helped so much." This response underscored the importance of raising awareness about available assistance during emergencies.

The Volunteer Ministers program, established more than three decades ago by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, is known for its humanitarian efforts in disaster zones worldwide. Their work is featured in the film Operation: Do Something About It on the Scientology Network.
