Washington Square Entertainment and NTD Canada to Develop Conspiracy Thriller Series Based on John Moody's Hui Trilogy

Washington Square Entertainment and New Tang Dynasty Television (Canada) have finalized an agreement to develop a scripted drama series based on John Moody's acclaimed Hui Trilogy of books. The series, currently titled Of Course They Knew..., is a geopolitical conspiracy thriller that explores the silent collapse of Western society as it falls under the influence of a covert global campaign driven by disinformation, artificial intelligence, and psychological warfare. Told through the intertwined lives of ordinary citizens across multiple continents, the series examines how truth itself becomes the most dangerous weapon in a new kind of global conflict.

The project is being developed for NTD Canada as part of the broadcaster's expanding slate of premium scripted drama with international appeal, in association with the Canada Media Fund. The television adaptation is being developed as a multi-season dramatic series under the working title Of Course They Knew..., with International Emmy-nominated David Cormican and Emmy-nominated Dwayne Hill attached to co-write and executive produce. Cormican will serve as showrunner alongside Hill, bringing their experience from projects like Tokyo Trial and Northern Rescue to the ambitious adaptation.

Partnering with NTD on Of Course They Knew... allows us to bring an urgent and deeply relevant story to the screen at a time when the boundaries between information, propaganda, and power have never been more blurred, said David Cormican. John Moody's trilogy reads like tomorrow's headlines, and we believe it has the scope and scale to become a truly global television event. The development represents a significant collaboration between multiple production entities, including Washington Square Entertainment, Fun Republic Pictures, and Yonderland Productions, working in association with NTD Canada and the Canada Media Fund.

We are excited to collaborate with Washington Square Entertainment and this exceptional creative team to develop a series that speaks directly to the political and technological realities shaping the modern world, said Joe Wang, President of New Tang Dynasty Television (Canada). Of Course They Knew... aligns with our commitment to telling stories that examine the forces influencing freedom, truth, and democracy on an international stage. The series gains additional credibility through the involvement of four-star General Wesley K. Clark, U.S. Army (Ret.), former Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO, who has been engaged as a consultant on the series' military, intelligence, and international political storylines.

Author John Moody, whose career as a journalist and editor has spanned decades of American political history, emphasized the timeliness of the adaptation. This story was written as a warning, but it has become increasingly clear that the world is moving closer to the reality it imagines. I'm proud to be working with my agent Alan Morell at CMP and this team to bring the Hui Trilogy to television in a way that captures both its scale and its urgency. The development and rights agreement was negotiated by Alan Morell of Creative Management Partners on behalf of the rights holders, together with Washington Square Entertainment, Yonderland Productions, Brick Tower Press and NTD. More information about the involved parties can be found at https://www.ntd.com and https://www.bricktowerpress.com.

The series development comes at a time when concerns about disinformation, artificial intelligence manipulation, and psychological operations in global conflicts have become central to public discourse. By adapting Moody's fictional account of modern geopolitical conflict shaped by technology, propaganda and global power struggles, the production team aims to create content that resonates with contemporary anxieties about the erosion of truth in democratic societies. The involvement of seasoned television professionals like Cormican and Hill, combined with Moody's journalistic background and General Clark's military expertise, suggests a series that will blend thriller entertainment with substantive exploration of real-world issues affecting international relations and civil society.
